It was once said that a well-made margarita could bring even the most hardened criminals to tears. And by “once said” I mean “I-completely-made-that-up-because-I-love margaritas-so-gosh-darn-much,” so I of course had to show love to the margarita before National Margarita Day takes place this Saturday (February 22).
Yes, the margarita does rank high on my list of favorite cocktails, but I’m not talking about chain restaurant margaritas that taste like they wouldn’t even fare well when paired against a Lime-A-Rita. I’m talking about the good stuff. A combination of tequila, fresh lime juice, and Cointreau is a good go-to, but there are also a number of more creative margaritas out there that could give the classic margarita a run for its money. I’ve listed a few of those cocktails below and I hope you’ve got that bottle of tequila handy!
Spicy Sage Margarita (Pictured Above)
2 oz. Avión Silver 3/4 oz. Jalapeño-Infused Elderflower Liqueur 1/2 oz. Orange Juice 1/4 oz. Lemon Juice 1/2 oz. Lime Juice 3/4 oz. Simple Syrup 3 Sage Leaves
1 Sage Leaf and Salt for garnish
