Amalfi Pizza Brings A Taste of Italy To Downtown Atlanta

Thanks to the addition of downtown Atlanta’s latest eatery, Amalfi Pizza, you don’t have to travel hundreds of miles to enjoy a slice of Italy. Amalfi Pizza, which opened weeks ago, sits right above Red Phone Booth, and boasts a menu full of–You guessed it, pizza. With the assistance of two, 6000-pound wood-burning brick ovens, the restaurant slings a little over half a dozen, specialty pizzas.

During their media event, I had the opportunity to sample the quattro formaggio pizza with Amalfi’s special, ricotta-stuffed crust. I have to admit I was feeling a little Kevin McCallister-like with my very own cheese pizza. It was absolutely delicious though. Size-wise, if you aren’t that hungry, you could easily split a whole pizza with a friend. It’s pretty sizable. I absolutely loved their specialty crust. They don’t skimp on the ricotta, and the fact that it’s house-made is much appreciated. You loyal, quattro formaggio. You loyal.

Not a pizza fan? You might want to check your pulse. Still alive? Great. The menu at Amalfi Pizza features a number of other items, including roasted beet salad and stuffed peppadew peppers.

The stuffed peppadew peppers, although they looked amazing, weren’t a favorite of mine. I guess I haven’t graduated past jalapeno poppers because I was hoping for a warm, straight-from-the-oven stuffed pepper. Not the case. The tiramisu was tasty, but not out of this world. Also, the presentation could have been better.

Amalfi Pizza does feature a full bar, but it seemed only right to stick with their house wine for my meal. In addition to a house red and white wine, the restaurant features a handful of other vino selections. The menu also includes several beers that are straight outta Italy.

Ready for your pizza and wine fix? You can find Amalfi Pizza at 17 Andrew Young International Blvd.
