Apple Cider Archives – LUSHWORTHY

A few weeks ago, I received a bottle of Wicked Dolphin Spiced Rum in the mail. Upon receiving the bottle, I immediately knew what my plans would be…boozy apple cider. I love a good rum punch or pina colada, but once fall and winter hit, I’m taking full advantage of boozy apple cider and egg nog cocktails.

I’m sure there’s several, uber-fancy ways of making apple cider. But time and place, folks. Time and place. If you happen to be short on time or don’t feel like picking apples from the orchard, there’s Alpine Spiced Apple Cider. It’s kind of the truth. It was perfect paired with the Wicked Dolphin Spiced Rum, and together the two made for an ideal, Lushworthy treat on a cold, Atlanta night.

I was only able to sample Wicked Dolphin Spiced Rum in the apple cider and on the rocks. On the rocks, you get a really nice array of flavors given the distilling process for Wicked Dolphin. Nothing’s too overpowering, and it is a relatively smooth rum.

It’s here! It’s here! My first ever recipe video is now live on YouTube! With the fall season in full swing, I opted for a “skinny” version of a boozy, apple cider. I hope you enjoy! And if you do, be sure to “Like.” The full “Skinny Spiked Cider” recipe can be found in the video description. Cheers!

In the past month or so I’m sure I’ve posted close to five drink recipes that are all made using warm apple cider. So for my next “Lushworthy Creation” I figured I’d put my own spin on the spiked apple cider recipe. I wanted to get a little daring with this one so I chose to use two different spirits: Smirnoff Whipped Cream and Conjure Cognac. As you may have guessed I was somewhat at a loss when it came to creative drink names so in the end I went with “Lush Cider” which I actually kinda like. It’s short, it’s sweet, and to the point.

I obviously chose to use an already made apple cider, but if you’re feeling a little on the creative side there’s tons of apple cider recipes online. And I’m sure a homemade apple cider would make for an even tastier drink.

I remember a few years ago when I lived in a student dorm in Brooklyn, I went out to get an iced frappucino from Starbucks one night and everyone thought I was absolutely crazy because it was literally 20 degrees outside. That being said I have absolutely no problem drinking this very, very winter-friendly cocktail from Partida Tequila in the dead of summer because it sounds absolutely delicious. It’s called the “Heated Affair” and it’s basically hot apple cider but with a tequila kick. Oh, and did I mention there’s heavy cream involved? Yummy.
