I really hate to choose favorites when it comes to this here blog, but I will say that rum ranks very high when it comes to my favorite spirits. It might just be the ideal spirit in my opinion, it doesn’t assault your mouth too much when sipped straight and I’m sure we all know rum is amazing when it comes to making cocktails. So all my fellow rum lovers out there will be pleased to hear that August 16th is in fact National Rum Day! Hooray!!
My goal is to always post drink recipes that I think are really cool and that others would enjoy, but I have to admit that these recipes have me quite literally salivating over here. The “Cruzan Coconut Old Fashioned” had me at “old fashioned,” the house-made cream of coconut for Sailor Jerry Rum’s “Wahine Piña Colada” will certainly be out of this world, and as simple as it might be the “Captain Morgan Black & Honey” sounds absolutely delicious. So take your pick and Happy National Rum Day!

Coconut Water Ice Cubes Recipe: Pour a can of Coconut Water (strain the pulp out first, if needed) in an ice cube tray – the bigger the cube the better – and freeze for several hours.
I just received my first ever Android phone so it’s safe to say that I was a little eager to try out Captain Morgan’s new “Captain’s Conquest” game for Android and review it on this here site. Now I’ve never actually reviewed a mobile game before and the only reason I’m reviewing this game is because it’s liquor related so please bear with me folks.
First off, at 29.05 MB it’s definitely the biggest application/game I’ve downloaded for my phone. Also, I noticed that before I downloaded “Captain’s Conquest” next to the title of the game was the word “WiFi.” So you might only be able to play the game if you have a WiFi connection, but don’t quote me on that
The whole objective of the game is to battle ships and defeat them so you can steal all their loot. Unfortunately, I don’t think this loot includes any rum. They definitely lost a few Lushworthy points for that. Continue reading
I think it’s pretty common knowledge now that no one likes fruitcake. Yes, it’s a holiday staple but it happens to be a dreaded one so all it really is is a big waste of fruit. But you can still manage to keep things both festive and fruity this holiday season by replacing your fruitcake with fruit cocktails. And that my friends is a much better use of fruit if you ask me. Thankfully, the folks over at Captain Morgan Rum have whipped up a few fruit-based cocktail recipes so the only thing you have to worry about is drinking up.
Captain’s Sparkling Apple Cider
1.25 oz. Captain Morgan rum
.25 oz. champagne
1.5 oz apple cider
Touch of simple syrup and cinnamon powder
Combine ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into champagne flute and top with champagne. Garnish with lime or apple wedge.
I came across these Captain Morgan ads, or “films” as they like to call them, via YouTube a few weeks ago and they’re honestly pretty entertaining. The commercials all come with interesting titles like “To Life, Love & Loot” or “This Is How You Get The Party Started.” I thought it was pretty interesting how each commercial focuses on some kind of chaotic scene and then Captain Morgan comes along to save the day in some uniquely creative way, whether he’s breaking dishes or showing off some impressive platform diving. Check out this latest Captain Morgan commercial which was released about three months ago and has already reached over a quarter of a million views. Obviously there’s a whole slew of people who find their commercials just as entertaining as I do.
