Not sure about you guys, but I’m super excited for fall, especially fall cocktails! Fall technically doesn’t start until September 22, but I find that there’s absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t prepare in advance. To make sure you’re at your most Lushworthy when fall rolls around, I’ve compiled a short list of my favorite, fall-friendly “Lushworthy Creations.” In case you’re new to the site, “Lushworthy Creations” are drink recipes created exclusively by moi.
Pecan Pie Old Fashioned (Pictured Above): I’m not one to name favorites, but the Old Fashioned is easily one of my boozy favs. What I love most about the Old Fashioned is it’s really easy to get creative using a variety of bitters and even a flavored whiskey, which is exactly what I did with my Pecan Pie Old Fashioned. [Full recipe here]
Skinny Spiked Cider: Not sure why apple cider is a million times tastier than apple juice, I’ll just chalk it up as one of life’s great mysteries. I really had a great time creating this Skinny Spiked Cider given that it was one of the first recipe videos I created for Lushworthy. [Full recipe here]
Boozy Nutella Shake: For me, fall is all about indulgence. And suffice it to say that, Nutella easily falls into the indulgence category. So, for my Boozy Nutella Shake, I opted to combine Nutella with Pecan Pie Whiskey to create a sinfully delicious cocktail. [Full recipe here]
Can you believe how fast summer has gone? It’s hard to believe we’re already in the final weeks of barbecuing, pool hopping, and sipping on tropics-inspired cocktails. Since my love for summery cocktails runs deep, I created a special drink to help us bid adieu to the season. I call it the End Of Summer Fling. Cute, right? The spirits I’ve used for this particular cocktail are Grey Goose and Chambord.
I wanted to keep my creation relatively light, and I also wanted the flavor from the Chambord to really shine through, so I opted for Lemon La Croix and fresh lime juice to top off my cocktail.
Check out the full recipe to the “End Of Summer Fling,” below. And cheers to an awesome remainder of summer!
1 oz. Chambord 1 oz. Grey Goose 6 oz. Lemon La Croix Fresh Lime
Lime Wheel Or Black Raspberries (For Garnish)
Add Chambord and Grey Goose to a glass with ice, and stir. Top with La Croix. Add more ice, if desired. Add a hearty squeeze of fresh lime. Garnish with lime wedge or black raspberries.
If you’ve lived in the city of Atlanta for at least a decade, you’re probably well aware of the swift changes being made to the city. New buildings are finding their place within the Atlanta skyline, every weekend seems to be met with a restaurant opening, and Murder Kroger is now long gone.
I’m not against finding new and exciting places to get my drink on, but it’s becoming increasingly harder to find an authentically Atlantan, good time. So, if you’re struggling to find a bar with a true Atlanta turn up, I’ve compiled a list of my personal, favorites.
The list is lit to say the least.
Jack’s Pizza & Wings – I absolutely LOVE Jack’s. They have some of the cheapest drinks in all of The A. The wings are bomb and I’ve met so many cool/fun/crazy people while late night drinking. Speaking of which, shout out to the random at Jack’s who gave my best friend and I life while snap-dancing to D4L’s “Laffy Taffy.” Jack’s is one of those places where you’ll be met with random shenanigans nearly any night, and for that I love it.
El Bar – What El Bar lacks in size, it makes up for in pure turn up. Seriously this place is small AF, but also lit AF. It’s almost magical. I take that back, it is magical. With the gentrification of Ponce running rampant, places like El Bar and MJQ have become treasured jewels of turn up.
I always thought the idea of “Christmas In July” was merely a marketing tool to get people to bust out their wallets months ahead of the Christmas holiday. But after talking to a friend about a “Christmas In July” house party crawl they’re taking part in this month (so awesome!), I realized that the idea of “Christmas In July” extends far beyond premature holiday shopping. In fact, it’s down right boozy.
I absolutely love, love, love holiday cocktails. They’re just so rich, decadent, and cheery! So, the idea of taking a break from your standard summer cocktails for a dessert-y, holiday-inspired drank is super enticing to me. And to help you celebrate “Christmas In July,” I’ve added the recipe to my Minty Hot Chocolate Shooters, and a handful of other holiday-heavy cocktails. Cheers!
Minty Hot Chocolate Shooters (Pictured Above)
2 oz. Smirnoff Peppermint Twist 1 Cup Cooled Hot Chocolate Whipped Cream
Prepare hot chocolate. Allow time to cool. Pour cooled, hot chocolate in a shaker with ice. Pour Smirnoff Peppermint Twist into shaker. Shake and strain into shot glasses. Top with whipped cream and crushed peppermint. (Should fill approximately six shot glasses)
1 part Hornitos Plata Tequila ½ part coconut water
½ part almond milk
Add all ingredients to a shaker over ice to chill. Shake, strain and pour into a shot glass rimmed with cinnamon and sugar.
If you live in the Southeast, a trip to Nashville, Tennessee is perfect for a weekend getaway. Live music is seemingly infinite and the food is slap-ya-mama good. I recently had the opportunity to visit Nashville for a quick one-nighter to explore the city for the first time, and to also check out the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. Although my time spent at the Loews didn’t surpass 24-hours, it was pretty clear how Lushworthy of a hotel it is. And here’s why…
Killer Craft Cocktails – Looking for carefully-crafted cocktails in a subtly chic setting? Mason Bar should be right up your alley. Located inside the Loews Vanderbilt, Mason Bar serves craft cocktails and sophisticated bar bites until about midnight. As a self-proclaimed Old Fashioned connoisseur, the “Mason Old Fashioned,” with its combination of bourbon, peach syrup, and bitter was perfection.
On the food end, I highly recommend the Fried Green Tomato Tacos. I usually despise tomatoes, but I do enjoy a good, fried green tomato. Yes, I understand how crazy that sounds. The tacos boasted an unexpected, but pleasant combination of ingredients, including fried green tomatos, shaved apples, goat cheese, candied pecans, and a secret sauce. Somewhat of a splurge at $9 for two tacos, but worth it.
Is it just me or did Valentine’s Day all of a sudden become a major party holiday? You’ve got your Galentine’s get-togethers and V-Day themed house parties. Personally, I love it. I mean, I love any excuse for a party, so turn up for Cupid.
With so many fun happenings, Valentine’s Day serves as a perfect time to break out those awesome, themed cocktails. If you’re at a loss when it comes to ideas for your V-Day sips, I’ve compiled a list of five cocktails that are perfect for any V-Day celebration. Cheers!
