When money is of no concern holiday gifting can become quite the extravagant task especially when it comes to liquor and spirits. You’ve got tequila tastings at extravagant resorts, champagnes fit for a king, and so much more. The possibilities really are endless.
1. 60-Year-Old The Macallan In Crystal Lalique Decanter ($20,000) – When you have a liquor in this luxurious of a container do you keep it on display forever? Drink it and then use the decanter as an uber-expensive vase? I have no idea. But if you’d like to buy me one of these bad boys I think I’d be willing to solve that little dilemma for you. 2. Moet Chandon Dom Perignon Gift Set ($1,095) – It’s like the French say, “One Moet is better than one.” Okay, the French don’t actually say that but who in their right mind would disagree with that statement? The set features a 1995 Dom Perignon Oenotheque, a 1998 Dom Perignon Rose, and a 2000 Dom Perignon. Sokolin.com
3. One&Only Palmilla Four-Night Stay And Tequila Tasting (Roughly $470 per night, $55 per person for tequila tasting) – Can you imagine taking part in a tequila tasting at a place this beautiful? I’m practically drooling on my keyboard just thinking about it. Located in Los Cabos, Mexico One&Only Palmilla is a lavish resort that features an even more lavish selection of tequilas. As part of the tequila tasting guests have the opportunity to sample seven high quality tequilas. The tasting is led by Wine Director Manuel Arteaga. OneAndOnlyResorts.com
My cousin hipped me to this the other day and I of course had to hop online to see what these Michelob Ultra fruit-flavored beers are all about. Turns out they do exist and the beer comes in three different flavors: Dragon Fruit Peach, Lime Cactus, and Pomegranate Berry. I’m not a huge beer fan, but the fruit-flavored part has really sparked my interest. The Lime Cactus flavor had me chuckling a bit though. What in the hell does cactus taste like and who wants their beer to taste like a desert plant? Has anyone had any luck finding these beers? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them in any grocery store, liquor store, bar, etc.
Belvedere is one brand that really is on top of things when it comes to mixology and unique drink recipes. I received their list of November cocktail recipes earlier this month and I was immediately impressed by their list of ingredients and also the presentation of each of the drinks. They sure know how to deliver when it comes to what I like to call “garnish wow factor.” I know it’s a bit cornball-ish to be impressed by a garnish, but the little things really do matter sometimes. That block of ice and orange twist in their “Antique Martini” really looks exquisite.
Belvedere Pink Port
1.5 oz Pink Grapefruit
½ oz Strawberry Juice
½ oz Port
Dash simple syrup
2 dashes Rhubarb bitters
10ml Chilled water
Stir and serve at room temperature in a spirit glass.
Who knew that all Diddy had to do to get over that whole Ciroc/Grey Goose fiasco was release a hilarious online ad. In fact, I’ve completely forgotten about Diddy’s belligerent rant…wait, what rant? The commercial is pretty funny though. He swan-dived over a bull, I don’t think it gets any funnier than that folks.
You know you’ve made it when a drink is made after you. To say so long to Regis Philbin who will be bidding adieu to his on-air television career this week after almost 30 years, Sauza Tequila has created the “Marga-Regis” in his honor. The “Marga-Regis” is a very intriguing blend of fresh kiwi, simply syrup, lemon juice, sparkling wine, and of course Sauza Tequila. The cool thing about this drink is that it’s actually being served at the Atlantic Grill in New York City so if you’re in the New York area you can have this drink made by a professional. But if you’re hundreds of miles away from the Big Apple, like myself, then you can whip up your own “Marga-Regis” using the recipe below.
Kiwi, peeled and sliced, estimating three ¼ inch slices per cocktail, reserving 1 for garnish
4 parts Sauza® Silver Tequila
1 part simple syrup
1 part fresh lemon juice
1 part sparkling wine
In a shaker, muddle kiwi. Add next three ingredients. Shake and pour over fresh ice. Top with sparkling wine and garnish with a slice of kiwi.
Of course I would find the cheapest rum and Coke’s in Puerto Rico on my last night there. Then again maybe it was for the better. While walking around the streets of Isla Verde at night I stumbled across Billiard Palace and their magnificent $3.50 rum and Coke’s. The liquor they used to make my drink was Bacardi which I was somewhat surprised at because of the low price. The drinks were pretty strong too. So if you ever find yourself in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico on one of those “I really want to hang, but my spending money is looking quite famished nights” then Billiard Palace is the spot for you.
While most of us unfortunately won’t have the opportunity to become a Victoria’s Secret runway model in our lifetime at least we can drink like we’re one. Following the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show which took place last week in New York City the Chambord cocktails were flowing at the event’s official after party at the new Dream Hotel and I’ve got the drink recipes for two cocktails served at the after party. In keeping with the theme of Victoria’s Secret and their fashion show the two cocktails, the “Raspberry Bombshell” and the “Dream Angel Martini,” are pink perfection.
Be sure to check out the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show when it airs on CBS on Tuesday, November 29th at 10/9C.

Now when you’ve spent a full day walking around the cobblestone streets of Old San Juan and you’re trying to find a restaurant to fill your empty stomach the first thing you notice when checking out a restaurants menu is the food, right? Well if you’re the Lushworthy type like myself you probably can’t help but check out their drink menu first. So when we found Jamaican restaurant Blessed Cafe my eyes immediately went to their drink menu, their rum punch menu in particular. And there were quite a few Lushworthy choices to choose from.
I ended up getting the “Caribbean Splash” which was both tasty and potent, my kind of drink. And I had a Corona with dinner which consisted of curry chicken, rice & beans, and a side salad. It was all just as delicious as the drink. Blessed Cafe was an all around amazing experience. The owner Tony was super friendly, I was loving the Bob Marley they were playing, and they were showing “Cool Runnings” on the TV above the bar! Looove that movie!
Now this is one sexy Hennessy bottle. I thought the KAWS bottle was pretty amazing, but this latest addition to the Hennessy Privilege Collection might just take the cake. I absolutely love the color scheme which is a combination of various metallics including a translucent platinum and metallic purple. It’s kind of giving me a holiday vibe too, it’s very New Years Eve 2012.
“The new Hennessy Privilege packaging is a fresh adaptation of our iconic bottle and represents unique characteristics discovered within the bottle and inherent to those who enjoy Hennessy,” said Jennifer Yu, Director of Communications, Hennessy. “The collector edition’s smooth, sophisticated and distinct design evokes the imagination and conjures the endless possibilities when exploring the unknown or crafting the perfect night out.”
The Hennessy Privilege Collectors bottle will hit shelves on December 1st and will retail for $45.99 – $49.99 (750 ml bottle).
If you’re a fan of Kahlúa then you’ll be very pleased to hear that the rum-based liqueur recently launched the brand spanking new Kahlúa Cinnamon Spice. Kahlúa Cinnamon Spice seems like such an ideal fall spirit so I’ve already got tons of drink recipes swirling around my head. On top of that Kahlúa Cinnamon Spice seems like it’ll be a great spirit for creating warm drinks which are perfect for these colder months. But if you’re a little low on the creative cocktail ideas then you should probably kick things off with the “Hot Mexican Cider.” And hopefully that’ll give ya a little cocktail inspiration.
1.5 0z Kahlúa Cinnamon Spice
3 oz Hot Apple Cider
.25 oz Of Fresh Lemon Juice
Shake all ingredients and serve in a glass mug. Garnish with dash of nutmeg or cinnamon.
