Now that we’re well into the month of February, the countdown to find a boo, bae, sweetheart, etc. by Valentine’s Day is officially on and popping. If it appears that cupid’s letting you down, no need to worry. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to link up with friends and swoon over Idris Elba, Chris Hemsworth, and other boos-in-your-head while enjoying a V-Day-inspired cocktail. In fact, save any saltiness for that cocktail. Wait, what? Bear with me here, people…
As a member of The Bar Insiders, I was recently challenged with creating a Valentine’s Day cocktail using Baileys Salted Caramel Irish Crème. My cocktail creation is the “My Salty Valentine,” a decadent combination of Baileys Salted Caramel, Ketel One Vodka, and Caramel Frappuccino (the bottled kind). And to add some extra V-Day vibes, I topped the cocktail off with a dash of maraschino cherry juice.
You can find the “My Salty Valentine” recipe below. And for added cocktail inspiration this Valentine’s Day check out my Pinterest board for the special occasion. Cheers!
1 oz. Baileys Salted Caramel Irish Crème
0.5 oz. Ketel One Vodka
1 oz. Bottled Caramel Frappuccino
Maraschino Cherry Juice & Cherries
Add Baileys, Ketel One Vodka, and caramel frappuccino to a glass with ice. Stir and add a dash of maraschino cherry juice. Garnish with a maraschino cherry or two.

So, this was originally a drink recipe I didn’t plan on adding to the blog. I merely wanted to create something quick and tasty for the Playoff games yesterday. But given that the recipe was pretty popular on Instagram, and the Seattle Seahawks quite literally smashed the Green Bay Packers in the fourth quarter, it seemed only right to share my “Seattle Smash” drink recipe with you guys. It’s a pretty simple cocktail to make and the blueberry/lime garnish should be perfect for any Super Bowl party given the blue/green color combination.
Speaking of which, do you guys have any favorites for the Super Bowl? I’m a Falcons fan, but I’ll personally be rooting for the Seahawks. I mean, you you can’t deny the epicness of the trio that is Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson, and Marshawn Lynch.
Check out the “Seattle Smash” recipe below!
1.5 oz. Ketel One Vodka 3 oz. Simply Lemonade 3 oz. Minute Maid Tropical Punch Fresh Lime Juice Lime Wedge
Build ingredients (vodka, lemonade, and tropical punch) in a highball glass. Stir and top with a splash of fresh lime juice. Add ice and garnish with a lime wedge and blueberries.
Hosting friends and family during the holidays is always a great time, but being the Lushworthy individual that I am there tends to be a little bit of pressure when it comes to creating a cocktail that everyone can enjoy. You can’t go wrong with the classic Moscow Mule, and for the holidays I figured I’d add my own twist to this much-loved cocktail. I used all of the ingredients in your standard Moscow Mule, but added cranberries and a Cannelle Decor cinnamon spiral for a “Holiday Mule.” It calls for a little extra work, but trust me it’s worth it.
Since you have to both boil and muddle cranberries, this is a cocktail that’s best enjoyed if you plan on hosting at your home. My suggestion? Dollar Store Not-So-Secret-Santa. You can be amazed at how many somewhat legit trinkets you can find at your local dollar store. So, instead of taking part in your standard Secret Santa this year, switch (and cheapen) things up a bit by asking your guests to buy five, $1 dollar gifts from the dollar store. Have everyone place their gifts in a large red bag (for instant Santa swag, of course). You can then have your guests pull a gift from the bag every 30 minutes or so.
Whether you find yourself sipping on a Holiday Mule or a cocktail of your own creation this holiday season, be sure to enjoy responsibly.
Holiday Mule (Makes two servings)
3 oz. Ketel One
Approximately 50-60 cranberries
1/2 Tbsp. Fresh Lime Juice
Cannelle Decor Cinnamon Spiral (Or Cinnamon Stick)
Boil cranberries in water (with sugar) until they burst. This takes about 10 minutes. Remove cranberries and allow to cool. You’ll be using the leftover water/sugar mixture in your pot, so make sure you don’t dump it. When the cranberries have cooled, add them to a cocktail shaker and smash/muddle.
Once the cranberries have been thoroughly muddled, add Ketel One and about three spoonfuls of the leftover water/sugar mixture set aside in your pot. Add lime juice, Cannelle spiral (or cinnamon stick), and ice. Shake thoroughly. Strain into glass or copper mug. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with lime and cranberry.

A few weeks ago I was invited to take part in the #FestiveFernet-Branca cocktail challenge and after a great deal of brainstorming (that Fernet can be quite the tricky booze to work with) I finally came up with a drink recipe, Lushworthy enough to share with the masses. I’ve dubbed it the “Whimsical Wonderland,” and with ingredients that include apples and cinnamon it should serve as a welcomed addition to the holiday season.
In addition to Fernet-Branca, the “Whimsical Wonderland” also calls for Ketel One Vodka, cream soda, and sparkling apple drink (or similar). So, for anyone who may be a little intimidated by the herbs-heavy liqueur, there’s a nice balancing act with this cocktail thanks to the combination of sweet and tart flavors, in addition to the bitterness of the Fernet-Branca.
Check out the “Whimsical Wonderland” recipe below, cheers!
1.5 oz. Ketel One Vodka
.5 oz Fernet-Branca
3 oz. Cream Soda
3 oz. Sparkling Apple Drink
Handful Of Diced Red Apples
Add diced red apples to a large mason jar or tall glass. Add Ketel One, Fernet-Branca, cream soda, and sparkling apple drink. Stir, add ice, and stir again. Top with a dash of cinnamon.

Although we still have a little less than a month before summer begins, for most of us Memorial Day weekend signifies the unofficial start of the summer season. And with that unofficial start you can expect plenty of people to break out the grills, a few seasonal cocktails, and other summer pleasantries this weekend. If you’re still in the market for a great cocktail or two for your Memorial Day festivities, I’ve compiled a list of six drink recipe ideas that come courtesy of Captain Morgan, SKYY Infusions, and more, and range from the pretty standard to the enticingly intricate.
Be sure to have an enjoyable and safe weekend and let’s try not to forget about the the men and women who lost their lives in the Armed Forces because that’s in fact what Memorial Day really is all about.

Congratulations are in order for Ketel One for securing several number one spots in Drinks International’s World’s 50 Best Bars Brands Report: Vodka. For those who may be unfamiliar with Drinks International’s annual report, it surveys top mixologists, owners, and managers across the globe in the hopes of finding the best selling and best trending brands of the last year. On top of being named the “# 1 Best Selling Vodka Brand In The World,” Ketel One also earned the title of “#1 Trending Vodka Brand In The World” and “#1 Favorite Vodka Brand That Makes A Cosmopolitan.” Since Ketel One is a top choice when it comes to creating a killer Cosmo I figured I couldn’t rightfully end this post without adding the recipe for the “Ultimate Ketel One Cosmopolitan.” Enjoy!
