Liquor Wars Archives – LUSHWORTHY

In today’s edition of “Liquor Wars” we have Diddy and Grey Goose…again. Diddy, whose role at Ciroc is that of brand manager (don’t quote me on that just yet), recently turned to his Twitter account to express his less than favorable opinion on Grey Goose’s latest flavor Cherry Noir.

Why don’t you tell us how you really feel Diddy?? Of all the “Liquor Wars” in existence this Ciroc vs. Grey Goose or more accurately Diddy vs. Grey Goose battle has proven to be quite hilarious. And that hilarity reached overwhelming levels late last year when Diddy unleashed his Ciroc fury on Grey Goose national influencer Kenny Burns and other non-Ciroc drinkers at a BET Hip Hop Awards party in Atlanta.

FYI: Ciroc, Diddy, and Grey Goose I’m more than willing to conduct a Lushworthy mediation session to end this feud once and for all. Just holler!

Ahh, there’s nothing I love more than a  good Liquor War and with all the feedback I received thanks to my Pinnacle Whipped vs. Smirnoff Whipped piece I know you guys do to. So months after Grey Goose announced that Cherry Noir (Black Cherry) would be the brands newest flavor it looks like Southern Comfort will also be entering the black cherry realm with their newest product, Southern Comfort Bold Black Cherry. Now as you guys already know Grey Goose is a vodka and Southern Comfort is a whiskey so I’m really curious as to how these flavors will pair up against one another since they’re varying types of liquor.

“The launch of Southern Comfort Bold Black Cherry continues the brand’s innovation with new flavors which began with Southern Comfort Lime in 2010 and continued with Southern Comfort Fiery Pepper last fall,” said Mark Bacon, VP, Managing Director, Southern Comfort. “We feel Bold Black Cherry will recruit new consumers into the Southern Comfort franchise who enjoy a distinctive flavor profile in their cocktails.”

Oh, and definitely stay tuned for the “Black Cherry Battle” where I’ll announce which product I find to be the most Lushworthy when it comes to Grey Goose Cherry Noir and Southern Comfort Bold Black Cherry.

Southern Comfort Bold Black Cherry is expected to hit shelves next month with a suggested retail price of $16.99 for a 750 ml bottle.

I’ll admit my headline might be a bit on the exaggerated side, but what “beef” doesn’t include a little exaggeration here and there. Even if it is only between vodka companies and not rappers. But earlier today I was on my Facebook page which happens to be littered with liquor ads, probably thanks to my numerous Lushworthy posts, and I saw this ad from Pinnacle which is a pretty obvious shot at Smirnoff and their new whipped vodka. The Pinnacle ad reads, “Pinnacle is the ORIGINAL whipped vodka. At 70 proof it kicks the pants off the 60 proof competition. Click LIKE if you agree.” Can somebody say shots fired. 

I have a personal favorite among the two, but I won’t be sharing that 😉 But I did pair both Pinnacle and Smirnoff against each other in specific categories. Check it out below.

Better Spokesperson: Smirnoff (Now this one’s an obvious no brainer especially due to the fact that Pinnacle doesn’t have a spokesperson and Smirnoff has Amber Rose.)

Most Facebook Likes: Pinnacle (Pinnacle has Smirnoff by almost 100,000 Likes. Yikes!)

Not to be funny, but Ciroc and Diageo might want to have a nice little sit down talk with Diddy in the very near future. Because to be quite frank he’s starting to make the brand look bad (as the videos below show). I’m pretty sure when Ciroc recruited Diddy they wanted a spokesperson not a liquor tyrant. And to be honest Diddy’s aggressive promotion of the brand kinda turned me off awhile ago. In the two videos Diddy is seen cursing at non-Ciroc drinkers one of which just happens to be an ambassador for Grey Goose. Not a good look Ciroc. Not a good look at all.
