Me: “Excuse me, is your Happy Hour special for all wines on the menu?”

Waitress: “Yep! All wines by the glass.”

Me: “!!!!!!!!!!”

Not sure about you guys, but I don’t think I’ve ever come across a Happy Hour that features half-off an entire, and quite extensive, menu of wines. Well, I lucked out in the most Lushworthy of ways during my recent trip to Los Angeles. My friend and I were really craving French macarons, so we did some research online and came across Little Next Door. We immediately made our way to Little Next Door and soon discovered that we arrived during Happy Hour. Cha-ching! After being informed that all wines were half-off, I ordered a glass of Rose to go with my macarons. And then more Rose. And then another macaron. And then possibly more Rose…I can’t quite remember.

The Rose was delish, and in my opinion it paired well with the assortment of macarons I ordered. I absolutely loved their salted caramel-flavored macaron. I ordered a pistachio macaron, but it came straight out of the fridge or freezer, and was a little too cold to be enjoyed. The third flavor may have been vanilla. Tasty, but the salted caramel was hands down the best.

Also, in addition to boasting a stellar Happy Hour, Little Next Door is a welcoming, well-decorated establishment. Heavily French-themed with ample space outside for people-watching while you sip on your wine of choice.

Oh! Almost forgot the most important part. Happy Hour at Little Next Door takes place from 4 – 7 PM, Monday – Friday.

While the city of Los Angeles may not be the first locale to come to mind when you think of the holidays, the city’s Library Bar is hoping to bring about a little holiday spirit with well, spirits. Specifically, their holiday cocktails. Located in the famed Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Library Bar has garnered quite a name for itself thanks to craft cocktails that are served “Omakase-style,” perfect for those of you who prefer the “surprise me” method when ordering drinks.

Now that we’re heavy into the holiday season, Library Bar’s head bartender Chris Hewes has crafted a few cocktails indicative of “the most wonderful time of the year.” Two of the seasonal sips include the “Library Hot Cocoa” (pictured above) and “Winter Stout.” The latter is a new addition which boasts quite the ingredients list thanks to a combination of Russian Imperial Stout, rye whiskey, almond milk, rice nectar, chocolate-chili bitters, and egg white. See, I told ya it was quite the list. And for all you spiked cocoa lovers out there, the “Library Hot Cocoa” is a decadent blend of warm almond milk, housemade cocoa liqueur, Knot Irish Whiskey, Godiva, nutmeg, and cream. Both cocktails sound amazing, but the housemade cocoa liqueur in the “Library Hot Cocoa” has me sold.

Both the “Library Hot Cocoa” and “Winter Stout” can be purchased at Library Bar for $16. On top of Library Bar, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel also features several other bars including Tropicana Bar and The Spare Room which is both a gaming parlour and cocktail lounge.
