Along with new ownership it appears that Buckhead’s Mood Lounge has also whipped up a few new cocktails for fall. Well more specifically head mixologists Russell Donovan and Jacob Strawn have created Mood’s clever new cocktails. Below is a sampling of what you can expect at the “new” Mood Lounge.
Adam’s Temptation – Blanton’s bourbon, plum gastrique, ginger syrup and orange zest.
Thai Tomato Chip – Prairie vodka, tomato water, wasabi, sriracha, lime juice, soy sauce and Thai basil. (Shown in the picture above.)
Frankly Scarlett – Hendrick’s gin, St. Germain, unfiltered apple juice, rose water and extract, simple syrup and rose petal garnish.
Pegu Club Cocktail – Martin Miller’s gin, orange curacao, fresh lime juice, angostura bitters and orange bitters.
Jennings Daiquiri – Depaz blue cane rum, sugar and fresh lemon juice.
On top of the creative concoctions listed above Mood Lounge will also be serving up a number of tasty bites including artichoke and parmesan dip, pulled BBQ brisket sliders, lump crab seafood cocktail, and more.

Don’t get me wrong I love a nice pumpkin, egg nog, or chocolate-based holiday cocktail just as much as the next person. But you have to admit that after awhile these standard holiday cocktail recipes get a bit boring. So I was definitely excited to see this very creative holiday drink recipe from Cruzan Rum. Their holiday cocktail is called the “Cruzan 9 NOVA” and it takes its inspiration from the classic “Bossa Nova” cocktail. What makes the “Cruzan 9 NOVA” unique in my opinion is the fact that instead of using egg nog or pumpkin they chose to use pineapple and apricot as their main ingredients. I’m still getting the holiday vibe with the drink, but at the same time it’s an unexpected although impressive choice of ingredients.

In honor of the upcoming 100th anniversary of Henry Flagler’s Florida Keys Over-Sea Railroad a 22-year-old student has created an award-winning drink recipe celebrating the momentous occasion. The name of the drink is ”Flagler’s Rusty Spike” and it was created by New Jersey native turned Floridian Joshua Zajac.
“I pondered what I could mix together that I could call a ‘Rusty Spike,’” said Zajac in a statement. “I remember drinking warm apple cider during cold days while growing up in New Jersey.”
On top of being the top cocktail at the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce’s 30th Annual Cookoff, “Flagler’s Rusty Spike” is also a very fall/winter friendly drink. So feel free to whip up this cocktail for a celebration of your own this season.

‘Tis the season for egg nog and with the start of the holiday season comes a variety of unique spiked egg nog drink recipes. The folks over at the Library Bar in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel are serving up a very interesting take on this beloved holiday cocktail. Their specialty egg nog is called “White Truffle Egg Nog” and consists of truffle-infused cream, cognac, agave syrup, and a truffle-infused egg. And if you find the directions below a bit tedious then don’t forget you can always get yourself a “White Truffle Egg Nog” at the Library Bar if you happen to be in the area. (Drink recipe is created by mixologist Matthew Biancaniello.)

Wow, I think I just caught a toothache watching Amber Rose’s new Smirnoff commercial. Marshmallows galore, copious amounts of whipped cream…how sweet, literally. Not quite sure how I feel about the commercial, but I am very eager to try the new Whipped Cream and Fluffed Marshmallow flavors.

Forget your orange juice, grenadine, and other boring mixers. When it comes to the holiday season, hot chocolate really is the mixer of choice. There’s so many decadent cocktails you can create using this fall/winter staple. Just in time for the holidays Kahlua has released several new spirits including Kahlúa Peppermint Mocha and as you can imagine they’ve got some amazing drink recipes that are made using hot chocolate.
Kahlúa Peppermint Mocha Hot Cocoa
2 oz Kahlúa Peppermint Mocha
2 oz Hot Chocolate
4 oz milk
Bring milk to a simmer. Whisk in drinking chocolate. Simmer for 30 seconds while stirring. Add Kahlúa Peppermint Mocha. Garnish with peppermint stick and marshmallows.

This blog is obviously about liquor and I never want to get too off track content wise, but there was so much Ciroc at the Young Jeezy listening event that I just had to do a write-up. So I had the opportunity to check out Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy’s private listening session for his upcoming album “TM: 103″ thanks to a last minute invite from a friend. The event was pretty empty when I got there so I immediately got a few random camera phone pictures in.

I gotta tell ya, I was really craving egg nog earlier this evening and couldn’t possibly resist the urge to create a “Lushworthy Creation” using the holiday favorite. I knew for a fact that I wanted to use vodka, but I really really wanted to add another liquor to spice things up a bit. So for my “Golden Nog” I chose to use both Russian Standard Gold Vodka and Tuaca Liqueur as my liquors of choice. I hate to use the term “match made in heaven,” but those two liquors really were when it came to creating this drink recipe.
