Since Betty Crocker is such a wholesome brand I was hella surprised to find this Pink Champagne Cupcakes recipe on the Betty Crocker site (via Doodles Dabbles & Dreams). Even more surprising is the fact that real champagne is used for both the cupcakes and the frosting. Nice! And with a recipe like this I’m starting to think that Betty Crocker might just be an undercover lush.
I always hear about cocktail cupcakes being difficult to make since high temperatures, liquor, and cake mix don’t seem to work too well together but according to the reviews the Pink Champagne Cupcakes actually come out pretty well. And now I’m really, really tempted to make these cupcakes for a New Years treat…they seem perfect for tonight. For the full recipe visit BettyCrocker.com.
To ensure that everyone has a safe New Years Eve, AAA will be offering a free tow service for both members and non-members on Saturday night/Sunday morning who find themselves too intoxicated to drive. The Tipsy Tow Program will be in effect from 6 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. on January 1st. All you have to do is call 1-800-222-4357 and tell them that you need you need a Tipsy Tow. AAA will then tow your car for free up to a distance of 10 miles. (Note: According to this article the Tipsy Tow Program will not be available in several states in New England.)
I consider myself somewhat of a fan of the classic Whisky Sour cocktail, but I’m becoming less and less pleased with the sour mix that’s primarily used when making a Whisky Sour. Far too many times the sour mix is just entirely too tart. It’s almost as if the mix was made using Pixie Stix and Lemonheads. Not cool…not cool at all. So for my latest Lushworthy Creation I decided to remix the classic Whisky Sour by using Crown Royal Black and adding my own little twist to the recipe.
Instead of sour mix I opted for lemonade, Simply Lemonade of course. Lemonade is pretty similar to sour mix, but it’s way more smooth in my opinion. And to kick things up a bit more I topped the entire drink with a splash or two of Sprite. I also added both slices and cubes of lemon to make for a fun garnish. The “Whisky Sour Remix” is pretty deelish, but also quite potent so just be aware of that when downing these bad boys. Check out the ingredients and directions for this drink recipe below.
With so much hype about 2012 being the end of days and/or the start of the Age of Enlightenment I’m really surprised that these Don Q Rum drink recipes are the first apocalypse-themed cocktails I’ve come across. I think it’s a pretty clever idea on their behalf. And even though “Don Q Apocalypse Punch” and “Blackbeard’s Rapture” may sound a little intimidating they both appear to be pretty tasty looking drinks.
Don Q Enlightened
1 1/2 oz. Don Q Gran Anejo rum 3/4 oz. orange curacao liqueur 2 oz. sour mix 1 orange wedge Sugar and cinnamon mixture
Orange peel twist
In a cocktail shaker, add rum, orange liqueur, sour mix and ice. Shake vigorously. Rim a martini glass with the orange wedge and then dip in the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Strain cocktail into the martini glass. Garnish with an orange peel twist.
I was doing a little post-Christmas shopping yesterday and happened to stop by Bath & Body Works to see what kind of sales they were working with. While in the store I noticed what appeared to be a line of scents inspired by cocktails. Being the Lushworthy individual that I am I just had to see what these cocktail-inspired scents were all about. The line features three different scents which include VanillaTini, Jingle Bellini, and Strawberry Sparkler. I really liked both the VanillaTini and Strawberry Sparkler scents although the only thing about them that reminds of a cocktail is the image on the bottle. You guys know how I am about peach so I didn’t really care for the Jingle Bellini. All three scents normally sell for $11.00, but are currently on sale over at BathAndBodyWorks.com for $5.50. Each scent includes body lotion, body wash, body spray, and lip gloss.
Prior to starting this blog I had no idea how popular champagne cocktails were especially when it comes to New Years Eve. I’ve posted several champagne cocktail recipes on here, including my own “Lushworthy Creation,” and if you think I’m out of drink recipes then think again my friend. These latest champagne cocktail drink recipes, “The Resolution” and the “Pink Slipper,” feature Sauza Tequila and Courvoisier Rose. And if you happen to be in the New York City area this week “The Resolution” is a featured cocktail at Time Square’s Blue Fin while the “Pink Slipper” will be served at Mediterranean restaurant Zio.
6 parts Sauza® Silver Tequila (or Sauza® Blue Silver Tequila)
1 part Pomegranate Juice
1 part Simple syrup
Dash of Peychaud’s Bitters
16 parts Champagne
Silver Candy Beads
Build first 4 ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, and strain into a champagne glass. Top with Champagne and candy garnish. Serve at midnight.
It looks like OR-G Liqueur has found itself yet another celebrity fan, this time it’s Renee Graziano of VH1′s “Mob Wives.” While hosting a “Sip & Shop” event at Je T’aime Shoes in Brooklyn this week OR-G Liqueur was Renee’s spirit of choice for her guests. Attendee’s sipped on various OR-G Liqueur cocktails while also checking out Je T’aime’s selection of towering stilettos.
First off I never knew that Claire Smith, the head mixologist at Belvedere Vodka, was so funny. On top of making some pretty awesome drinks on “Conan” she also made it quite the entertaining lil’ segment. Both drinks seemed quite tasty, but the “White Russian” seems like it’s much more my speed. And who knew they sold milk that’s sweetened with cereal? I really need to get my hands on that.
I’m having some problems embedding the video so head on over to Team CoCo to check Claire’s segment out.
So I was perusing through the Pinnacle Vodka Facebook page earlier today and I’m so glad I did because that’s exactly where I found these “Shirtless Bartender” videos. Now I really don’t care what you men think, but this is an amazing concept! Lol. For their “Shirtless Bartender” videos Pinnacle pretty much recruits local (and pretty hot) bartenders from across the country, who happen to be allergic to anything covering their chests, to show you how to make a Pinnacle cocktail. Only down side is it might be a little difficult to focus on the drink being made.
