I was watching a video recently of a bartender creating a specialty cocktail and I was very impressed with the fact that this particular bartender used orange marmalade to sweeten their drink instead of simply syrup or sugar. After seeing this I was really set on including orange marmalade in the ingredients list for my next “Lushworthy Creation.” On top of learning about the usefulness of marmalade when it comes to making cocktails the video also sparked my interest in other unique ingredients. So for my latest cocktail which I’ve dubbed “Lady Marmalade” I’m kind of proud to say that I used both orange marmalade and coconut water.
To say that I was extremely leery when making this drink is a major understatement. For one, I have never in my life tried coconut water. And on top of that I had my concerns about the orange marmalade. Would it taste okay? Would it dissolve properly? But despite my hesitations this drink is what you might refer to as ThaBomb.com. Yea, I said it. Not only is the “Lady Marmalade” quite tasty, but I’m proud to say that it’s my most creative “Lushworthy Creation” yet.
3 oz. Coconut Water
1 oz. Partida Tequila Reposado
3 Teaspoons Orange Marmalade
Cut a large orange in half and then cut a 1/2 inch thick slice from either half. Then cut your slice into six pieces. Do the same with your lime. Once you have your pieces of orange and lime place as many of them as you can on a toothpick.
Combine coconut water and Partida Tequila in a shaker without ice. Add orange marmalade to your shaker and stir until marmalade is dissolved. Use the other half of your lime to squeeze fresh lime juice into your shaker. Add ice and shake. Strain into a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with your lime/orange filled toothpick.
