LUSHWORTHY – Page 117 of 121 –

In this recent installment of “The Plight Of Pill,” Atlanta rapper and Maybach Music’s own Pill spoke on how important it is to drink responsibly. As much as rappers refer to their Hennessy, Moet, etc. it was kind of refreshing hearing Pill speak on the negative side of drinking. The rapper referred to a particular, unfortunate incident which resulted in two DUI’s and gave a few words of advice as well.

“Just a message to the younger kids in college drinking. If you drinking you gotta pay attention to you drink. If you set your drink down don’t go back and drink it. If you with some friends make sure everybody’s watching everybody. Cause somebody could easily put something in your drink,” said Pill.

Yea, this blog is about all that’s great about the liquor and spirits world but at the end of the day drinking responsibly is major and I can’t even begin to stress how important it is. In fact, I’ve even created a new category for Lushworthy that’s dedicated completely to drinking responsibly.

It’s easy for a holiday like National Tequila Day to slip your mind when you live in a state where you can’t purchase alcohol from a liquor or grocery store on Sunday’s. And since National Tequila Day happened to fall on a Sunday this year I completely forgot about this lushworthy holiday. But I’m only one day late so I figure I can still celebrate a bit. And feel free to celebrate with me by mixing up one or more of these tequila-based drink recipes from Sauza Tequila.

Quite frankly, there usually aren’t many drink recipes for the cream liqueurs on the market. When it comes to cream liqueurs you usually throw in a few ice cubes, stir it up a bit, and call it a day. But after doing a bit of research I came across three interesting cocktails that are created using the brand new Qream Liqueur. And if you don’t have a serious sweet tooth you may want to pass on these recipes.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Combine Qream Strawberry and Godiva Chocolate Vodka in a martini glass. Garnish glass with a sliced strawberry.

La Reine Magnifique

I received a press copy of the first episode of “Bad Girls Club New Orleans” over the weekend and I thought to myself, “I sure wish this was relevant enough to review on Lushworthy.” Then I came to the obvious realization that the Bad Girls are the biggest group of lushes on television and that a review on here is actually pretty suitable. So here goes…

For the past season or two “Bad Girls Club” has kicked off their season premiere with an extremely chaotic scene that usually ends with some kind of physical confrontation. You get all excited about the mayhem you’re going to see in the first episode and then they hit you with the “17 Days Earlier” and rewind to the girls arriving (peacefully) at their mansion. And they’ve yet again stuck with that formula for this season. I’m personally not a fan of it. I feel like they show you all this action in the beginning knowing that the rest of the episode won’t be nearly as action-packed. There were of course a few crazy moments in the episode, but nothing like what you see in the first few minutes.

If I could sum up the season premiere using just a few words they’d be crazy Creole, voodoo dolls, Shawty Lo, and major pizza disrespect. Once you’ve seen the episode you’ll know exactly what I’m referring to. Now moving on to our seven lushes…

Why does it seem like there’s always at least two Bad Girls who hail from New York City? And they all manage to be quite crazy. Well, you’ve got two of those this season. You’ve got a “Goofy Gangster,” an intimidating lesbian chic, a go-go dancer, and a few other nutcases. There’s also one life-sized voodoo doll that I’m pretty sure one of the Bad Girls thinks is a real person (bless her poor, confused little soul). In past seasons there’s been quite a few girls who ended up leaving the show before it concludes, but after watching this first episode there’s only one Bad Girl that I think would voluntarily leave the house.

Overall the episode proved to be very entertaining in that typical “these girls are all completely out of their minds” way that has become so familiar when it comes to the “Bad Girls Club” series.

Be sure to check out the “Bad Girls Club New Orleans” season premiere on August 1 at 9/8c on Oxygen.

Now if this blog started some time last year and not two weeks ago, I would without a doubt be at “Tales Of The Cocktail” in New Orleans right now. For those of you unfamiliar with the event “Tales Of The Cocktail” is a five day long event that strives “to be instrumental in advancing the craft of the cocktail through education, networking and promotion.” And this is done through various seminars, competitions, tastings, etc.

One of the events that took place at “Tales Of The Cocktail” was Campari’s “World’s Largest Negroni” event. The event featured a ginormous 30-gallon Negroni cocktail which was served to attendee’s by a bevy of gentlemen sporting handlebar moustaches. I sure hope the folks at Guinness were contacted because this is without a doubt the biggest cocktail I’ve ever seen. Check out pics from the event as well as a recipe for the Negroni cocktail below.
