Surprise, surprise. It has now been revealed that Ciroc’s latest offering, Ciroc VS (Very Special) is actually a French brandy. Given that past Ciroc releases have included coconut, apple, and red berry-flavored vodkas, the decision to release a brandy is certainly unexpected. My guess is that Ciroc VS is Ciroc’s response to the increase in millennials purchasing craft bourbons/whiskeys. Ciroc putting out a bourbon/whiskey isn’t really an option, but a French vodka releasing a French brandy does work.

Given that brandy has always come across as a fall/winter spirit to me, I wanted to create a summer-friendly Ciroc VS cocktail perfect for the upcoming holidays. Given that sangria is absolutely the first cocktail that comes to mind when I think of brandy, I knew that “Ciroc Very Special Sangria” was the one. I also wanted to offer up a classier cocktail, so I opted for a twist on the Old Fashioned cocktail, which I’ve dubbed the “Amour Old Fashioned.”

Ciroc Very Special Sangria

INGREDIENTS

1 Bottle Red Wine (750 mL) 1/2 Cup Ciroc VS 5 oz. Ciroc Pineapple 1 Cup Orange Juice 1 Cup Pineapple Juice

While I’m over here waiting for Rihanna to drop a line of wines, a Barbados rum, or at least something boozy, she has announced a Lushworthy new addition to her Fenty Beauty line. On Instagram today (May 14), RiRi unveiled her Mimosa Sunrise/Sangria Sunset shades for her Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter. I’m obviously more booze than beauty, but both of these shades look absolutely gorgeous and I love the cocktail theme. I can also appreciate that one shade appears to be geared for wear during the day while the other seems great for a sultry evening look. 

The Mimosa Sunrise/Sangria Sunset Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter is part of the “Beach Please” summer collection, which will be released on May 21. The collection will be available at Fenty Beauty and Sephora. 

It’s been a minute, but I finally stepped back into the Lushworthy Lab to work on some boozy, new creations this week. First up was my own personal take on the ultra-popular frosé wine cocktail. Although everyone has their own twist on frose’, it typically consists of frozen rosé blended together to make a boozy slushie. My wine of choice was Little Black Dress Rosé. And I opted to kick things up a notch with the addition of Smirnoff Red White & Berry (a cherry, citrus, and blue raspberry-flavored vodka). That’s how I ended up with the name Firecracker Frosé. Smirnoff Red White & Berry is basically the classic Firecracker popsicle in boozy, liquid form.

INGREDIENTS

1 Bottle Little Black Dress Rosé Smirnoff Red White & Berry Vodka Frozen Strawberries Fresh Lemon Juice

Simple Syrup

DIRECTIONS

Pour Little Black Dress Rosé into an ice cube tray and freeze for at least five to six hours.

Once your rosé ice cubes have solidified, add seven cubes to a blender, along with three frozen strawberries, 1 oz. Smirnoff Red White & Berry, 1/2 tablespoon simple syrup, and 1/2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice. Blend all ingredients together. Pour into a glass and garnish with lemon wheel. (Makes one serving)

Pinot Grigio or Grenache Blanc with Vanilla: A refreshingly indulgent combination, the buttery vanilla flavor of the ice cream brings out the crisp, green fruit notes in the wine.

Riesling or Gruner Veltliner with Pralines ‘n Cream: The praline pecan and caramel flavors in the ice cream pair well with the apple notes of the wine. The ice cream also helps to round out the fresh green notes of the wine.

Rosé with Rainbow Sherbet: The citrus and berry flavors in the sherbet bring out the floral, fruity notes in the wine.

Pinot Noir with World Class Chocolate: A world class ice cream with a world class wine. The silkiness of the ice cream complements the vanilla and fruit notes of the wine and rounds out the mouthfeel.

Chardonnay with Old Fashioned Butter Pecan: The sweetness of the ice cream complements the honey, buttery and oaky notes inherent in the wine.

Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx has teamed up with French vodka Grey Goose for the launch of OFF SCRIPT, a new digital series. Consisting of nine parts, OFF SCRIPT will feature one-on-one conversations between Jamie and Hollywood’s elite. The singer/actor will quite literally go off script with the likes of Denzel Washington, Gabrielle Union, Vince Vaughn, and T’Challa himself (actor Chadwick Boseman). 

“I’m so excited to be joining the amazing OFF SCRIPT production team. I can’t wait to dive into interesting conversations about film with some of my most respected peers in the entertainment industry,” said Jamie Foxx in a statement. “What I love most about this series is that viewers are going to walk away feeling inspired by the personal stories from our guests and the movies that influenced them.”
