Just in time for the Super Bowl (Go Panthers!), EFFEN Vodka has released a limited edition, football-inspired bottle that’s sure to be a worthy addition to any Super Bowl shindig. The limited edition, EFFEN Vodka bottle is wrapped in a textured football sleeve, and features musician 50 Cent’s signature and logo.
The Queens, New York rapper/entrepreneur recently partnered with the brand, and has been pushing hard for EFFEN Vodka on social media and elsewhere, ever since.
“EFFEN is the perfect example of LIQUID LUXURY®, and it’s taking over. This limited edition football bottle will raise the game for your football party,” 50 Cent said in a statement.
You can get your hands on EFFEN Vodka’s limited edition bottle at select retailers this month for $35.99 (750 mL bottle).
Let’s face it, any Super Bowl party without Lime-A-Ritas really isn’t much of a party. But if you find that serving Lime-A-Ritas, SOTC (straight out of the can) is a little boring, then boy have I got the fix for you. What’s this fix, you ask? Lime-A-Rita Punch! And yes, it’s just as amazing as it sounds. It combines three different Lime-A-Rita flavors (Lime-A-Rita, Straw-Ber-Rita, and Raz-Ber-Rita) and receives an added kick thanks to the addition of fresh lime juice and tropical punch.
It’s super easy to make, so no need to be cooped up in the kitchen all day when the New England Patriots get their behinds handed to them on Sunday. Also, the recipe below is big batch-friendly (just add extra lime juice), so you can make a bunch at one time if you’re short on time. Enjoy!
1 Part Lime-A-Rita 1 Part Raz-Ber-Rita 1 Part Straw-Ber-Rita 1 Part Minute Maid Tropical Punch Splash Of Fresh Lime Juice Lime Wedge
Build all ingredients in a glass (all three Lime-A-Ritas and Minute Maid Tropical Punch). Add a splash of lime juice. Stir and add ice. Garnish with lime wedge and maraschino cherry.
With the NFC and AFC titles now claimed, the stage is set for Super Bowl XLIX between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. Whether you’ll be rooting for the Seahawks or the Patriots one thing we can agree on is our desire to see a great game that’s decided by the players and not the officiating (ask Cowboys and Lions fans if you don’t understand what I’m getting at here).
With that in mind, ask yourself “Wouldn’t it be cool to take the power of penalization out of the officials hands and put it into the fans for a change?” If you answered “yes”, sober up like I had to and come to your senses. The Super Bowl would be absolute bedlam if we ran things. However, all hope isn’t lost, my friends…
Luckily, a byproduct of these thoughts was left behind and a drink was inspired, The Penalty Flag. A cocktail that’s a touchdown celebration in a collins glass. Perfect for sipping on come game day. It has pineapples, rum, vodka, cherries, and even a mini friggin’ penalty flag! Do yourself a favor, fix one of these on February 1st, grab some hot wings and enjoy yourself. Cheers!
1 oz. Ciroc Pineapple 1 oz. Bacardi Pineapple Infused Rum 4 oz. Pineapple Juice Maraschino Cherry Juice Pineapple Wedge(s) Maraschino Cherry
Mini Penalty Flag
Combine pineapple vodka, rum and juice in a shaker with ice and shake vigorously (this will give it the frothy look seen in the picture). Strain this mixture into a chilled, ice filled collins glass. Drizzle some maraschino cherry juice into the mixture to give it a reddish tint. Garnish with a pineapple wedge, a maraschino cherry and mini penalty flag.
To create the penalty flag, simply cut a yellow piece of cloth about 1/4″ wide and double fold the strip in half. Wrap a small rubber band at the fold of the cloth to create a loop that a garnish pick can fit through.

So, this was originally a drink recipe I didn’t plan on adding to the blog. I merely wanted to create something quick and tasty for the Playoff games yesterday. But given that the recipe was pretty popular on Instagram, and the Seattle Seahawks quite literally smashed the Green Bay Packers in the fourth quarter, it seemed only right to share my “Seattle Smash” drink recipe with you guys. It’s a pretty simple cocktail to make and the blueberry/lime garnish should be perfect for any Super Bowl party given the blue/green color combination.
Speaking of which, do you guys have any favorites for the Super Bowl? I’m a Falcons fan, but I’ll personally be rooting for the Seahawks. I mean, you you can’t deny the epicness of the trio that is Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson, and Marshawn Lynch.
Check out the “Seattle Smash” recipe below!
1.5 oz. Ketel One Vodka 3 oz. Simply Lemonade 3 oz. Minute Maid Tropical Punch Fresh Lime Juice Lime Wedge
Build ingredients (vodka, lemonade, and tropical punch) in a highball glass. Stir and top with a splash of fresh lime juice. Add ice and garnish with a lime wedge and blueberries.

If you’re hosting a get together with friends for this weekend’s Super Bowl, you’re probably already well aware of the stress that comes with creating a food and drink menu that’ll please everyone. Now I can’t help you on the food end. My only suggestion is to hit up the chips aisle at your local grocery store with a vengeance and grab as many bags of Tostitos as you can. But I have compiled a list of cocktails that are perfect for a variety of guests. Yep, I’ve even got those of you with organic-obsessed friends and guests who haven’t quite grasped the concept of what the Super Bowl is (i.e. halftime show fanatics), covered.
Check out a list of Super Bowl-friendly drink recipes (and one bonus food recipe) from Hornitos, Captain Morgan, Skinnygirl, and more. Cheers!

Although the city of New Orleans may be notorious for its lively, Hurricane-sipping Bourbon Street crowd, there are quite a few places in the city where you can bypass that crowd and instead enjoy a grandiose cocktail in a more relaxed setting. Among those places is the Polo Club Lounge in the Windsor Court Hotel and just in time for this weekend’s big game they’ve introduced a new menu of Luxury Cocktails (emphasis on luxury). Prices for the cocktails start at $16 and go all the way up to $10,000. I’m sure you’re wondering what kind of cocktail costs $10,000. Well, it’s called the “Key To The City” and is a cobbler that’s made using 1907 D’Oliveiras Malvazia madeira.
Now if you’re thinking the “Key To The City” and the $2,000 “Key To The Court” are a little pricey for just a cocktail then fret not because the price also includes a souvenir gold key and a return stay to the Windsor Court Hotel which includes a ton of perks while you’re there.
You can find a full list of the Polo Club Lounge’s new Luxury Cocktails below. Keep in mind that the menu does end on Tuesday, February 12.
Key To The City – $10,000 – D’Oliveiras Malvazia 1907 Madeira Cobbler served in a silver julep cup, garnished with fresh fruit and a souvenir gold key.
Key To The Court – $2,000 – A traditional New Orleans Sazerac, made unforgettable with Louis XIII Cognac and a souvenir gold key garnish.
French – $75 – Cristal Brut Champagne ‘04, Martell XO, Peychaud’s Bitters, Sugar Cube.
The Vieux Carre – $27 – Martell XO, WhistlePig Rye, Sweet Vermouth, Angostura Bitters, Peychaud’s Bitters.
