It’s not often that you can escape the hustle and bustle of downtown Atlanta and find yourself in a vintage-heavy, Hawaiian oasis. If you’re a local “hotel-hopper” then there’s a slight chance that you’re familiar with the oasis I’m referring to and if not, then you’re probably one of many Atlantan’s who had no idea the Polynesian-inspired eatery that is Trader Vic’s existed. Located on the lower level of the Hilton Atlanta, Trader Vic’s brings a little taste of the Pacific Islands to “The A” thanks to its Polynesian cuisine and tropical cocktails.
Speaking of tropical cocktails, Trader Vic’s has quite the reputation for its beloved “Mai Tai.” Made using rum, Curaçao liqueur, and lime juice, the “Mai Tai” packs quite the delicious punch. But it’s so tasty you’ll hardly care about anything packing any kind of punch (hugs at Trader Vic’s are another story). If for some tragically odd reason you’re not a fan of “Mai Tai’s” then you’ve got plenty of other tropics-inspired libations to choose from including the “Samoan Fog Cutter,” “Atlanta’s Own Peachtree Punch,” and even a handful of sizeable punch bowls you can attempt to share with a few of your friends.
As tantalizing as Trader Vic’s cocktails may be, you can’t pass on sampling at least one meat cooked using their wood fire oven. You can choose from beef, scallops, salmon, lamb, or chicken. And thanks to their BBQ Vegetables & Tofu Stir Fry and a handful of other dishes, there’s also a few vegetarian options as well.
