You know what I love about Valentine’s Day? All-chocolate-everything and pink-and-red-for-the-win. Can’t go wrong with lots of chocolate and a dope color combo. So, when that translates to cocktails it’s even more of a win. Whether you’re rolling solo, rolling with the homies, or happen to be booed-up this Valentine’s Day weekend, I’ve got a handful of cocktail selections that are sure to sweeten the deal. Check ‘em out below!
Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Margarita (Pictured Above)
INGREDIENTS (Recipe Serves Two)
3 parts Sauza® Silver Tequila 1 parts DeKuyper® Triple Sec Liqueur 2 part Pucker® Strawberry Schnapps 6 parts sour mix 2 chocolate-covered strawberries
Chocolate shavings for rimming
Add all ingredients to a blender, puree until smooth. Serve in glasses rimmed with chocolate shavings and garnish each with a chocolate-covered strawberry.
Soltado Molten Hot Chocolate (Created By Rob Bennett, Blu Wolf Bistro)
1 oz Soltado Spicy Añejo Tequila 1 oz Chocolate Vodka 4 oz hot drinking chocolate 2 oz brewed espresso Drizzle chipotle chocolate syrup
Whipped cream and cinnamon
Stir first 4 ingredients into a mug or Irish coffee glass. Top with whipped cream and cinnamon. Drizzle chocolate syrup. Garnish cinnamon sticks.
Cupid must have had a serious affinity for cocktails because Valentine’s Day is easily one of the most Lushworthy of holidays. Whether you and your boo plan on having an at home date night this Valentine’s Day, or if you plan on turning up at a V-Day house party (*slowly raises hand*), the cocktails are sure to be flowing. D’USSE Devotion (Pictured Above)
1.5oz D’USSE VSOP Cognac ¾ oz Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice ¾ oz House made Cinnamon Simple Syrup* 1 oz Hard Cider
Dash Angostura Bitters
Combine the D’USSE, Lemon Juice, Cinnamon Syrup, and Angostura Bitters in Shaker. Shake and serve up in a coupe glass. Finish with Hard Cider and a little stir.
The Cinnamon syrup is made by adding cinnamon sticks to boiling water until the water begins to take on a brownish hue, then adding equal parts sugar to the water to create a 1 to 1 syrup.
The Hotel Lobby
1 ½ parts Skinnygirl Meyer Lemon Vodka 2 parts club soda Muddled raspberries
Fresh lemon twist to garnish
Muddle raspberries in a glass and add ice. Pour ingredients and stir. Garnish with a fresh lemon twist.
Well gentlemen, it’s that time of year again. Cupid is on the prowl, love is in the air and that special someone in your life is awaiting to see just how romantic of a night you have planned. Yeah, it’s the special day we call Valentine’s Day, the day we all express our love to our significant other and smother each other with kisses and hugs. Flowers, dinner, maybe a small, sentimental gift, it’s all well and good, but it’s been done over and over and over again. Your lady wants to see you get creative and unless you were born with a singing voice like yours truly (not true, but it sounds good) you might be in a bit of a bind. However, Ol’ Willie boy here has got you covered.
Her tastes buds will melt when she tastes The Velvet Kiss. This red velvet cake inspired cocktail will have you looking cooler than Clark Gable back in 1939 on the silver screen. Before things heat up, keep her cool with this blend of Tequila Rose liqueur, Baileys Irish Creme and last, but certainly not least red velvet Oreo cookies. 1.5 oz Tequila Rose Strawberry Liqueur 0.5 oz Baileys Irish Creme Splash of Strawberry Liqueur 4-6 Red Velvet Oreo Cookies 1 Cup of Ice Strawberry Syrup
In a blender, add Tequila Rose, Bailey’s Irish Creme, strawberry liqueur, 4-5 red velvet Oreo cookies and ice. Blend until smooth and pour into a hurricane glass lined with strawberry syrup. Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of strawberry syrup. Garnish with a red velvet Oreo cookie and serve with a straw.

Now that we’re well into the month of February, the countdown to find a boo, bae, sweetheart, etc. by Valentine’s Day is officially on and popping. If it appears that cupid’s letting you down, no need to worry. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to link up with friends and swoon over Idris Elba, Chris Hemsworth, and other boos-in-your-head while enjoying a V-Day-inspired cocktail. In fact, save any saltiness for that cocktail. Wait, what? Bear with me here, people…
As a member of The Bar Insiders, I was recently challenged with creating a Valentine’s Day cocktail using Baileys Salted Caramel Irish Crème. My cocktail creation is the “My Salty Valentine,” a decadent combination of Baileys Salted Caramel, Ketel One Vodka, and Caramel Frappuccino (the bottled kind). And to add some extra V-Day vibes, I topped the cocktail off with a dash of maraschino cherry juice.

1 oz. Baileys Salted Caramel Irish Crème
0.5 oz. Ketel One Vodka
1 oz. Bottled Caramel Frappuccino
Maraschino Cherry Juice & Cherries
Add Baileys, Ketel One Vodka, and caramel frappuccino to a glass with ice. Stir and add a dash of maraschino cherry juice. Garnish with a maraschino cherry or two.

For far too long, a box of mystery chocolates and a gigantic teddy bear have become the norm when it comes to Valentine’s Day. It’s almost as if a little thing called “creativity” disappears as soon as Cupid shows his pudgy, little face. Chocolate is great and all and I have nothing against teddy bears, but if you really want to impress your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day then look no further than your at-home bar (or the local liquor store if your bar is looking a little famished).
When V-Day rolls around this Friday, find your favorite cocktail below and get to work fixing your Valentine a dessert cocktail that’s far tastier than anything Russell Stover himself could have created.
Espress Your Love (Pictured Above)
50 ml Belvedere Vodka 20 ml chilled espresso 20 ml vanilla infused simple syrup
Combine all ingredients and shake vigorously with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass or coupette. Garnish with 3 espresso beans.
If you happen to hate Valentine’s Day, that is fully understandable, but instead of punching pillows all day or throwing pictures and various other memento’s of your ex into a fireplace, why not enjoy a cocktail or two? While there are plenty of cocktails dedicated to Valentine’s Day there’s also plenty of drink recipes that are a little more anti-Valentine’s Day friendly. Take for instance EFFEN Vodka’s “EFFEN Bitter Truth,” that name alone just screams “Valentine’s Day is for chumps.” And if you’re hoping to make the holiday a little more relaxing there’s also Van Gogh Vodka’s “Dutch Tea” which is a decadent combination of Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate Vodka, tea, heavy cream, and sugar.
Personally, I think that if you’re without a boo on V-Day you should celebrate the holiday with friends and EFFEN Vodka’s “Toast Of The Town” is ideal for that kind of occasion. Dutch Tea – Created By James Labe (Pictured Above)
4 oz. Prepared Numi Chocolate Pu-erh Tea 2 oz. Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate Vodka 1 oz. Heavy Cream
Steep one Numi Chocolate Pu-erh tea bag at normal strength with freshly boiled water for three minutes, then remove bag. Add Vodka and stir. Whip cream with a little sugar and float on top. Dust with Powdered Cocoa to garnish.
