Whiskies Of The World Archives – LUSHWORTHY

If whiskey was a person, it’d probably be a combination of Rihanna and Ryan Gosling. I can’t quite explain that analogy, but I can assure you that it’s pretty factual. Needless to say, whiskey, as smooth as it is, has arguably the biggest personality of all the spirits.

Last week, I had the opportunity to sample this spirited spirit, and quite a variety of it during the Whiskies of the World expo here in Atlanta. The expo makes stops in a handful of cities each year and brings with it a bevy of whiskies. We’re talking upwards of 200 expressions. It’s heaven for whiskey lovers.

I’m not gonna lie to you guys, there’s only so much whiskey I can drink straight up, so after sipping on Glenlivet, Russell’s Reserve, and other potent (though delicious) whiskies during Whiskies of the World, I soon opted for some lighter sips (Crown Royal Apple, a bevy of Bird Dog Whiskey flavors, etc). I was also really hoping to get my hands on a whiskey-based cream liqueur. You know, with it being egg nog season and all, but no such luck.

Atlanta whisky lovers, rejoice! The Whiskies Of The World expo is bringing its annual whisky tasting event to Atlanta this week. During Whiskies Of the World, which will take place on October 23 at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead, whisky lovers will have the opportunity to sample “200 expressions of Scotch, Bourbon, Irish, Canadian and other whiskies from around the world.” You can also expect food and whisky pairings, whisky masterclasses, whisky and cigar pairings, and more.

Tickets to Whiskies Of The World are available for purchase for $120 (general admission) and $150 (VIP). You can purchase tickets here.

All that whisky drinking is bound to make one eager for a worthy meal. Thankfully, Whiskies Of The World just so happens to take place the same week as Highland Restaurant Week. Highland Restaurant Week began last Saturday, and will end on October 25. During Highland Restaurant Week, well over a dozen restaurants in the Poncey-Highland, Virginia Highland, and Morningside neighborhoods, will offer special prix fixe menus. The prix fixe menus range in price from $10 to $35, so even us budget-friendly folks can take part.
